Happy Christmas Eve, to those of you who celebrate! In today’s post I’m going to shine the spotlight on a new beauty brand, Woosh Beauty.
Finding the perfect fragrance can be such a challenge. There are so many on the market that it can be overwhelming, but I’m here to help you find your perfect winter fragrance! Whether you prefer woodsy and spicy, floral, or something in between, I’ve got you covered. So, let’s start by deciding what kind of scents you like…
Fall is upon us! Okay, fall isn’t upon me, seeing as how I live in LA and it is literally 100 degrees here today (what the actual f***?). The heat here isn’t stopping me from pulling out my vampier, more fall-appropriate lippies, though. Here are 6 of my favorite affordable lip products for you to try this fall!
The drugstore is hopping on that liquid lip train, and I am so here for it. Maybelline came out with their SuperStay Matte Ink Lip Color a few months ago. The Super Stay Matte Ink formula never fully dries down, so be mindful of that. The shape of the applicator is perfect for getting a precise, crisp application. The colors are vibrant and opaque – the color, Voyager, is a gorgeous deep burgundy color that screams fall.
Another drugstore liquid lipstick that has recently won my heart is the Infallible Pro-Matte Liquid Lipstick range from L’Oreal. The applicator on these is really similar to the applicator on the Maybelline Super Stay Matte Ink lipsticks – it has the same pointed tip that allows for a precise application, which is a plus. The shade, Shakedown, is gorgeous for fall. It’s a reddish brown shade, with a hint of plum. It’s a unique color in my collection, and I think it would be flattering on any skintone. Another color to try from this line is Plum Bum, a cooler-toned plum shade.
What do you know, yet another liquid lipstick. SUE ME. The Liquid Catsuit liquid lipsticks from Wet N Wild are the most drying of the three I’ve mentioned here – that being said, it’s nothing too terrible or uncomfortable, I would just suggest a good exfoliating sesh beforehand. The shade Berry Recognize is a beautiful berry (duh), aubergine shade. If you don’t want to completely deep and vampy but want something bolder than a nude, this would be a great option for you. Another one of my favorite shades is Give Me Mocha – it’s the perfect everyday fall shade for me (I wear it a ton on my Instagram, so follow me!
In addition to the Liquid Catsuit Liquid Lipsticks, Wet N Wild makes some great traditional lipsticks as well. Their MegaLast lipsticks are a total steal at $2.49 (though check your local drugstores from coupons/sales) and are fantastic quality. The shade, Sugar Plum Fairy, is a really beautiful berry shade. It’s a nearly identical dupe to MAC lipstick in Rebel color-wise. Formula-wise, this Wet N Wild lipstick is more matte whereas MAC Rebel has more of a satin finish. Both, perfect for fall. Another color to check out from this line is Cinnamon Spice – a gorgeous, reddish brown (my fave fave fave color for fall).
If you follow me on Instagram, you’ll know that I’m obsessed with Colourpop’s Ultra Matte Lip in Notion. It is the perfect deep, vampy red shade with a touch of raspberry. This is a true matte liquid lipstick, so these can be a bit drying, but as I mentioned earlier, just exfoliate them lips first and you’ll be all good. If Notion isn’t your cup of tea, Colourpop has a massive color selection so you’ll definitely find a shade for you!
Oh, Milani Teddy Bare, I am so thankful to have found you. The Milani Color Statement Lipsticks are so comfortable on the lips. They are formulated with vitamins A and C and are super nourishing. Teddy Bare is a beautiful brown-toned nude that would complement any skin tone. On lighter skin tones it’s definitely going to be more of a medium-toned, warm brown shade, and on deeper skin tones it’s going to be the perfect nude. Also, it smells like a watermelon Jolly Rancher, sooooooo…A+.

Summer is HERE, and I’m feeling the heat here in Los Angeles. My makeup routine changes along with the change in weather. Basically, I’m a lot, um…shinier (read: sweatier) in the summer and need some help looking (and staying) fabulous. In this post, I’m rounding up some of my must-have beauty products for summer! I’m working on a more in-depth “lip products for summer” video, so stay tuned for that.
Mom’s rule, amiright? Mother’s Day is coming up and I’ve rounded up some gift ideas for all the amazing moms in your life.
My mom is my best friend and we talk almost every day. As the years go by, I am more filled with regret with the way my angsty teenage self treated my wonderful mama. Teenagers, suck man. Now, when I call to talk, she’s the one trying to get off the phone and cut the conversation short. Sorry I bore you, Mom.
This blog post is for those of you who want to look more awake when you’re tired. I made this video because, I find that whenever I sit down to do my makeup, my first thought is often, “Damn, I look wrecked.” Being busy is great, but I find that I neglect myself sometimes when my schedule gets too full.
Makeup is an incredible tool and can help even the most exhausted of us look like we slept on a cloud. Watch the video to see my favorite tips and tricks, or continue reading below if you don’t feel like listening to me.
Zoolander said it best: “Moisture is the essence of wetness, and wetness is the essence of beauty.” But in all seriousness, hydration is super important. Make sure you’re consuming enough water throughout the day. The old rule is eight 8-oz glasses of water per day, but I try to drink more than that. When I’m good about drinking water, I notice a huge difference in my skin. Not only is my skin more hydrated and clearer, but my fine lines seem to plump up a bit.
In addition to hydrating from within, remember to moisturize the skin. No matter what skin type you have, moisturizer is your friend. It helps create a smooth, hydrated base for makeup, and makes skin appear healthy and more youthful. I use Belif The True Cream Moisturizing Bomb. A hydrating primer helps as well. Try the Too Faced Hangover Replenishing Primer.
Color correcting is a great tool to use if you tend to get dark unde-reye circles when you’re tired. Under-eye circles can vary as far as color and undertones go, so make sure to find the right color for you. Use the color opposite the color of your dark circles on a color wheel. My under-eye circles tend to be on the purple/blue side, so I find that an orange/salmon color corrector does the trick. I like to use the L.A. Girl HD Pro Conceal in Orange. These concealers are super pigmented and extremely affordable, and come in a ton of different shades!
As I get older, I find that there’s a shift in my favorite makeup products. When I used to go to Sephora in my younger years, I would go straight for the bold eyeshadows and lip products. Now I’m like, get me to the most full coverage concealers/foundations and natural setting powders STAT. A full coverage concealer is my best friend when I’m trying to look more awake. For this, I love the Tarte Shape Tape Concealer. There’s a reason everyone and their mom raves about this stuff. It’s really, f*cking good. The formula is extremely thick and full-coverage, without being cakey. Using a shade lighter than your skintone in your under-eye area will instantly brighten your look and bring life to your face.
When I’m looking tired, I stay away from dark colors on my eyes. Darker tones tend to weigh down my eyes, making me appear even more exhausted. Instead, I opt for a bright, shimmery shadow. Keeping the eyes simple and light, while adding a light pop of shimmer on the inner corners and inner part of the lower lashline will help widen and brighten the eyes. I like to use Stile Eyeshadow in Kitten. For an even more intense shimmer, try dampening your brush before dipping into the shadow.
Using an eyeliner in your skintone on the lower waterline will also help to brighten up the eyes and make you appear more awake. This is also a great time for people with smaller or hooded eyes. I’ve recently been loving the Nyx Wonder Pencil in Light. This product can also be used to spot conceal, and highlight the browbone.
When I’m doing a lighter makeup look like this, I like to go for a warm, flattering rosy shade. Anything too vampy weighs down the look and anything too light or nude can make me look like a corpse. Kat Von D Everlasting Liquid Lipstick in Double Dare is a beautiful, warm, medium pink that is flattering on everyone, and gives that fresh, young look.
What are some of your favorite tips and products for looking more awake? Let me know in the comments below! Okay, time for me to take a nap.
The Sephora VIB spring sale is here! It’s the best time of the year. Well, second-best (we get 20% off during the holiday sale). I figure that since I’m in my late-20’s, I should try to, like, be an adult and save money and stuff. So, I decided that aside from a moisturizer I purchased as a gift, I would be buying nothing else from the sale. Nada. Zilch. NOTHING. I did, however, make a video of suggestions for you including some of my all-time favorite products, and some newer loves of mine as well.
The truth is, I have more makeup than a lot of people. It would take me a long-ass time to go through everything I have in my collection. Working a full-time job and auditioning/freelancing at night isn’t easy. I get by, but I certainly don’t have a ton of expendable income. I know many of you can relate. So, for the next two months I’m going to do my best to stay on a no-buy. If I run out of a holy grail item, I’ll repurchase it. Depending on my income, I may set aside any extra I make to treat myself, but for the most part – no. BUY.
Instead of sharing a haul with you, I’m going to share products I am lusting over and that are #goals. This is probably a little masochistic of me, but I’ve kind of always been a bit of a masochist.
I never paid too much attention to my skincare routine until very recently. It makes me cringe to think of all the nights in college I fell asleep drunk next to an empty pizza box and with a full face of makeup on. Or washing my face with a bar of soap that made my skin feel dry and tight – and moisturizer? Nah.
I’ve started to notice fine lines, texture and unevenness more and more as I get older, and am kicking myself for not starting a regular skincare regimen earlier. But no time like the present, right?
I’m itching to try this product. The main ingredient is lactic acid, which is one of the most popular and sought after AHAs found in skincare products. Lactic acid helps exfoliate pesky dead skin (which helps unclog pores), while evening out skin tone and reducing the appearance of fine lines and wrinkles. The product is made without parabens, sulfates and phthalates, and is cruelty-free as well.
I don’t have any facial oils and feel like I’m missing out. This facial oil from Drunk Elephant is rich in antioxidants an helps hydrate and heal skin, without leaving that greasy feeling. While it is advertised as a facial oil, it’s safe to use on the hands, neck, or anywhere else that needs a little extra love. The product is completely vegan and fragrance-free. And I’m a sucker for the damn packaging.
I’m guilty of neglecting my hair in addition to my skin. I have naturally thick, coarse, wavy hair, and I heat style it often, without using any type of heat protectant product. I know, I know. I’ve heard great things about this particular cream, and am hoping to try it out soon. The cream is silicone-free, and protects hair against heat up to 425 degrees, while toning down frizz and adding shine. Sounds pretty sweet to me.
IGK Beach Club Texture Spray ($29.00)
I recently chopped about four inches off my hair and am now rocking what people call a “lob”. I asked my lovely hairdresser to get rid of all the dead hair and give me some texture. I love the beachy, texturized, piecey look and am looking for a product to give me just that. I also love going days without washing my hair, and want a product to help give day-old (or four days-old) hair some extra oomph and fullness. The Sephora website also states that it has a “Miami scent”- guava, coconut water, vanilla, midnight violet and pink lotus. I thought that meant it would smell like tequila and regret.
$46.00 for 0.25 oz of product is absurd. It just is. That’s 23 tacos. TWENTY-THREE. That being said, I want to try this foundation so badly. I’ve watched plenty of reviews and tutorials using it and I think it looks absolutely gorgeous on the skin. Full-coverage, effortless, not cakey. Though it contains less product than other foundation sticks, the coverage is supposedly higher, meaning full coverage can be achieved using less product.
I’m a sucker for coconut anything. Coconut water, coconut milk, coconut jelly in my bubble tea. I love the Too Faced Hangover Primer for its hydration, yes, but damn it smells good too. I don’t have too many liquid/gel highlighters, and would love to add another to my repertoire. This highlighter can be applied directly to the skin or added to foundation for a subtle all-over glow. Because the highlighter is infused with coconut, it contains nourishing and hydrating properties. Basically, I need it.
I love the original setting powder from Laura Mercier. It’s my go-to powder when my skin is on the oilier side (when I’m drier I love the RCMA No-Color Powder). Like I mentioned earlier, I work full-time at night, and audition and freelance during the day. I also somehow find time to eat, write blog posts, film/edit videos, spend time with friends and my boyfriend, and do laundry. Okay, not the last one. What I’m trying to say is that I’m exhausted a lot of the time. I’ve noticed my dark under-eye circles have become more prominent, and I could certainly use all the help I can get. This powder is formulated with light-reflecting pigments to help brighten and increase radiance. If this powder is like the original Laura Mercier powder with the ability to help me look like I slept more than five hours a night, count me in.
Benefit Cheek Parade ($58.00)
Benefit’s latest cheek palette looks amazing. And, unlike many of the other products I’ve chosen, is a pretty damn good value. The palette includes five full-sized blushes and bronzers: the infamous Hoola bronzer, the new Galifornia blush, the new Hoola Lite bronzer, and Rockateur and Dandelion blushes. When you add it up, the palette is a $145.00 value. I haven’t tried many Benefit products, surprisingly, and am dying to try their cheek products in particular.
Kat Von D Everlasting Lip Liner ($18.00)
I love Kat Von D products. She makes my favorite contour palette and her liquid lipsticks are some of my personal favorites. I love that she is a true artist and unafraid of bold, out-there, edgy colors. She recently came out with lip liners in 30 shades to match her lipsticks. The formula is supposed to be water-resistant, long-lasting (dare I say, everlasting), weightless and highly pigmented.
